What to Expect at Your Initial Consultation
When you are going through a family law matter, you must have knowledge of the legal process and the law. You also must have confidence in your attorney and enjoy a positive working relationship with your attorney. You and your lawyer must be comfortable with each other. I write to let you know what to expect when you reach out to this office. On your initial call to this office, you may be asked to provide information so I can make sure that we do not have a conflict of interest in talking with you. After that call, as soon as possible, I will give you a free half hour telephone call consultation. Thereafter, I will want to meet you in an initial consultation.
The initial in person consultation provides the opportunity for me to learn about you and your family and the issues involved. You will learn about the various processes to address the issues. [To learn more about the various processes, click HERE.] I will provide you with a summary of the law related to the legal issues you have. As a result, you will leave the consultation with additional knowledge and a better understanding of what to expect from the process you choose.
At the consultation, we answer your questions and give you information on what to do and what not to do. Because we spend quality time with you addressing your individual issues, and because we provide valuable legal advice to you, we do charge an initial consultation fee.
